The holidays are a great time to travel, if you have the funds. Here are some of my tips for travelling:

  •  Pack light. Lay your outfits out before you pack them. For ladies, I recommend packing a pair of leggings as they are comfortable.
  •  Most of your items should fit in one luggage bag (26” luggage or smaller) if you are vacationing for 5-10 days.
  • Use a carry on to for light  items as well as a pair of spare clothing/underwear just in case something happens to your luggage or it gets lost.

Tackling the career fair

Job Fair Royalty Free Stock Photo

1. Research and look at the companies in advance.  Use  the map layout, predict which will have longer lines. Also research positions they are looking for at the fair and even check their online site, there may be something on there that you can say "I also saw on your career site...this position is it still avail.".The recruiter might say "oh,im not sure let me forward your resume to XYZ"If they say that follow up with them!

2. Be yourself (easier said than done) - Be personable and energetic! Don't be intimated by what other people are doing. You'll see plenty of monotone, serious people. Don't be like them! You need recruiters to remember you! So smile often (but not too often you don't want seem like a creeper! )

3. Have plenty of resumes and a folder or pockets to collect business cards!

The job hunt.

I apologize for not posting on here as much as I should, but  sometimes I find myself thinking  like Julie in the movie  "Julie and Julia" whether or not anyone ever reads any of the content on this blog. If you do, a comment would be awesome! Nonetheless, lets get to today's topic. The dreaded  JOB HUNT.  *sigh* where do I begin.  Firstly, the market is not at its best, therefore employers have the ability to be even more selective in their decision making process and its really difficult competing with your peers, other people who have lost their jobs and people who want to make a career switch all at once.

I really get annoyed when  googling or searching on job boards with key words like "entry level" and somewhere within the job description it reads must have one or more years of experience. "Hello?" where am I suppose to gain that experience immediately after graduating from school when you won't even give me a chance.Nonetheless, I shall share some of my tips:

A moment filled with excitement entangled with other emotions. It always reminds me of the classic  Vitamin C song   "graduation". I envisioned  a graduation  ceremony with a powerful and influential speaker encouraging us to do better, followed by the classic line "this isn't the end, its only the beginning". Man oh man, was I in for a shock graduation day (May 30th.).
